Robert Ignatius Burns (b.1921) entered the Society of Jesus (1940), became a Roman Catholic priest (1952), and was a professor of history at UCLA (1958- ). He wrote many books on Islamic Spain and the medieval Mediterranean region, including (1974) and (1978). The collection consists of manuscripts, typescripts, galley sheets, and miscellaneous materials related to Burns' writings on thirteenth century Islam and the Crusades. Islam under the Crusaders: colonial survival in the thirteenth-century kingdom of Valencia Moors and crusaders in Mediterranean Spain
